Texas Time...?

I was making the drag through some regular stops in the Texas portion of the blogosphere, and noticed that Roscoe Ellis is now using the meme "Texas Time" on his posts. Roscoe claims to have "borrowed" the idea from Kevin over at PubliusTX.

Now, I certainly salute these two gentlemen for their Unswerving Devotion to the Great Nation of Texas, but I have to sorta wonder... where does this leave El Paso? Last time I checked, it was still flopped over into the Mountain Time Zone.

OTOH, "99.9% of Texas Time" just doesn't have the same ring. Guys, I wouldn't sweat it. We'll call it "blogistic license."

(Oh, and by the way...muchas gracias to PubliusTX for blogrolling The Gazette. I guess this post proves that no good deed ever goes unpunished! ;-)

Heh. In MY Republic of Texas, El Paso would be on Texas Time. And my blog is all about MY conception of reality, right? Warped, confused, demented.... yeah, that's it! :)

Kevin, I'm just giving you a hard time...everyone knows that "Texas Time" is a state of mind, a metaphor for what Camelot wants to be when it grows up. Or something. Anyway, as my old bud Jerry Bob used to say, I don't care what time it is, as long as it's time for dinner. And, of course, by "dinner" he meant "lunch."

I hope this clears everything up for everyone. You can all just move along now.

Heh. But I don't want to leave out our El Paso friends! I'm a uniter, not a divider. Err... or something. :)

Eric,

That's a good point you make about El Paso being on Mountain Time while the rest of us are on Central.

My thinking on this situation is that it gives us two different Texas Times, each one just as validly Texan as the other. And while using Kevin's meme may not distinguish precisely between El Paso and the rest of us, it does make the larger point that there is a qualitative difference to the time experienced here in Texas from time experienced anywhere else. (And if that wasn't one of the most oddly constructed sentences I've ever written, well ... I dunno.)

My god, yall are a bunch of philosophers.

"Philosophers"? Man, I've been called a lot of things before, but this is a first. I'm feeling wiser already.

Wait a minute...are you being sarcastic?
