IDOP: Daily Focus

The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) is next Sunday, November 9. I'd like to provide some resources for those who are interested in this observance, in the form of a daily "snapshot" of the work of the primary sponsoring organizations.

First, for a quick review of what IDOP is all about, you can read an earlier Gazette post, or you can visit the IDOP website. That website provides links to the 10 sponsoring organizations.

Christian Freedom International is a nonprofit, nonpartisan Christian human rights organization headquartered in Virginia, USA. Its strategy is different from many humanitarian organizations. In their own words:

Most organizations only provide assistance to places where they have an official invitation from a sovereign government. But repressive regimes never give this invitation. As a result, many Christians who need help go without aid or advocacy.

The mission of CFI, however, is to reach the part of the persecuted church that is. . .
. . .the most repressed,
. . .most cutoff,
. . .and most isolated.

That's why we accept no government or United Nations funds.

CFI is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).

Christian Solidarity Worldwide is actually a network of national organizations, each headquartered in a different country. The US organization is officed in Casper, Wyoming.

Christian Solidarity Worldwide is a Christian non-denominational, non-profit mission agency working for the liberty of persecuted Christians and oppressed children throughout the world. The most visible representative of CSW is Baroness Caroline Cox, deputy speaker and lifetime peer in the British House of Lords. Lady Cox, who has also been a teacher and a nurse, travels to the true "hot spots" of Christian persecution, delivering medical supplies, food and other humanitarian aid, and acts as a general gadfly for governments who either support or ignore such persecution that occurs within their borders. Lady Cox was a keynote speaker at Midland's IDOP observance in 2001.

CSW has applied for and expects to soon receive accreditation by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).

Daily Prayer Guide: Theme -- Perseverance
  • These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. Hebrews 11:39

  • Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

Pray that God’s children will remain faithful even when it seems all God’s promises have failed.
