Film Flam Man

I'd just like to know the identity of the genius who scheduled "Jersey Girl" for our local cinebox, and omitted both "The Ladykillers" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"?

Perhaps the reason Odessa doesn't have any bloggers is that they get decent movies to watch.

Looking at the box office receipts for "Hellboy" and "Dawn of the Dead" (movies that did make it to the Tall City 10) just reaffirms that our demographic doesn't call these particular shots when screens are limited.

OK, so why do we have so few movie screens in Midland? That's a separate rant.

My husband actually observed a man bawling out the manager because he wouldn't be able to see "Ladykillers." The manager just shrugged.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Personally, "Hellboy" sounds like a lot of fun (today's Wall Street Journal has an absolutely gushing review of it, making me wonder if the reviewer saw the same movie that the guy in today's MRT wrote about). I couldn't care less about "Dawn of the Dead," but at least it's getting good marks for campy humor. "Jersey Girl," by ALL accounts I've seen, simply reeks.

But I can't imagine any Tom Hanks movie NOT outdrawing just about anything else. If the bookings are profit-driven, not showing it here is doubly inexplicable.
