I feel the need for Weed

First of all, I'm not responsible for any conclusions you've jumped to upon reading the post title.

In any event, we're outta here for the weekend, heading for the exotic and mysterious attractions of Weed, NM (population – 30, in the greater metropolitan area...it goes up if you include the spacious suburbs). We and another couple are checking out a bed and breakfast called RavenWind that comes highly recommended by another Midland couple. It looks like a great getaway, and I'm not packing the laptop (and I may not even turn on the cellphone).

Have a great weekend and we'll catch you on the flipside.

Hope you don't run up a huge Swedish massage bill. Weed is a nice area. I have old friends in Midland who used to have a cabin near there.....

Well, that's two titles that had me fooled. The first one is obvious.

But RavenWind?

The B&B is called RavenWind? I checked the link just to make sure you weren't kidding.

Maybe it's just me, but the name sounds like an intense PC game! Imagine the box write-up...

"Explore an incredibly detailed unsettling landscape unlike any other. Solve treacherously fiendish puzzles and discover the darkest secrets. Battle unspeakably evil beings who want to devour your soul. Nothing has prepared you for... RavenWind!"

"Whoa! The Dark Ages were never this dark! RavenWind is brilliantly conceived!"
--PC Gamer

" * * * *Stars! RavenWind raises the bar for fantasy gaming!"
--Adrenaline Vault

"RavenWind's graphics and real-time strategy-combat engines are years ahead of Neverwinter Nights!"
--Game World

Instead, it's a B&B! Incredible. You'd figure they'd pick a cheerful name, like Mellow Medows or the R&R Ranch.

Still, you've chosen the perfect time to take a break from the on-line world (especially with the election approaching). With a metro population of 30, it's definitely... rural. There were more people in the express line at K-Mart this afternoon.

Here's hoping Abbye stays away from any funky toads this time around!

Gee, you get to have all the fun. I am soooo envious, too! How nice to live so close to such wonderful getaways. I never thought of Dallas as particularly restful *grin*
