Hmm...I wonder what he really meant by that?
One of our local pre-dinner time news broadcasts features a short syndicated segment with advice from Dr. Phil, and while I don't usually pay any attention to him, this cut through my usual mental fog and lodged firmly in the part of my brain that goes "whut?!"
Direct quote:
To me, "parent" is a verb, and the synonym for that is "guidance."
Anybody know of a good remedial grammar class that takes TV shrinks?

Eric
In Dr. Phil's view, "TO PARENT" is the same as "TO GUIDANCE".
Although I understand your point of grammar, You would not have posted what Dr. Phil said in the Fireant Gazette were it not for his wrong grammar. So Dr. Phil wins another point!!!
Also, if we only listen to people who talk and write in grammatically correct English, we will miss what a majority of people have to say and contribute with their wrong grammar and spellings. As a nation of immigrants, it is advisable to overlook grammar and look more at the ideas. Then immigrants will be encouraged to talk. And talking with others is one of the best ways for them to polish their English.
In behalf of Dr. Phil, Eurasian would like to say, thank you Eric!!! Thank you Fireant Gazette!!!
