"That thing got a hemi?"

According to this website, there are over 100 million active landmines in the ground around the world. Thousands of people -- mostly civilians and often children -- are killed or maimed each year after encountering mines.

The problem is simple, but the solution is not. Here's one approach: a 16-ton behemoth dubbed the "Mine Wolf" that can clear 2,000 square meters per hour, significantly more and faster than the current military equivalent.

My deepest admiration goes out to whoever is brave enough to pilot one of these vehicles!

I've wondered over the years why such a machine was not widely available considering the problems with mines. It's basically similar to the "flails" that the British developed to go ashore during "D" Day. I do wonder about how it would do on some anti-tank mines. Some can be seriously big. Then there are "bouncing betties" that when tripped throw a charge up in the air 3 or 4 feet before exploding.....but I suppose that's armored glass in the cab.

And by the way, as a personal aside to the author. We are tops in our neighborhood in TV technology. When the bride and I were married we counted a total of seven [7] TV's between us. From 18 inches all the way up to 38 inches. We even have a 30" model that is solely devoted to a PlayStation2.

Yeah, but you shouldn't be trying to take credit for it. We know who has the real tech brains in your household!
