Bowl Games

Kevin's happy, but it's only gallows humor, as we learn that Texas has wormed its way into a BCS bowl, playing Michigan in the Rose Bowl.

That OU will play USC for the National Championship is no surprise, but it obviously leaves unbeaten Auburn out in the cold, as they play twice-bit Virginia Tech for leftovers in the Sugar Bowl.

The real winner (besides UT, which gets a huge pay raise out of the deal) is A&M, who now gets to play Tennessee in the Cotton Bowl on New Year's Day, the best possible scheduling deal for a 7-4 team. I'm sure Tennessess isn't thrilled, but the Aggies have nothing to lose.

Here's the complete bowl schedule.

BAH! Who needs BCS? I'll be following alma mater New Mexico when it takes on Navy in the Emerald Bowl!

"Everybody's a Lobo ! ... woof, woof WOOF!" :-)

Since when do lobos (loboes?) go "woof"?

That is the most creative Aggie spin I've ever seen! Seriously, when are they going to fire that fraud franchione, anyway?

He gets two more shots at UT...three at most. If his senior recruiting class can't beat 'em, he's toast.

I don't see anything touching him until then.

Disclosure: I don't have an opinion about him as a coach one way or another. I realize that few other observers are equally sanguine. But, then, I also don't believe that the BCS was spawned in the deepest recesses of hell. ;-)

My distaste for fraudchione comes from his days at TCU when he pulled the same thing he later pulled on Alabama (except without the probation bit). Given that it took them forever to ditch RC Slocum, who never really did get the hang of that "forward pass" concept, Fran probably has a couple more years left. But lose to Baylor again and all bets are off. :-D
