Tapped Out

It's been a long but satisfying week at the Gazette, and I'm empty of ideas*. Normally, that would be my cue to write like a banshee (whatever that means), further cementing my status as a content-free blogger. However, in appreciation of your continued patronage and forebearance, I'll probably just give it a rest for the remainder of the day...and, perhaps, the weekend.

Unless, of course, I change my mind.

*Well, I am working on this one idea that revolves around a Dan Ratherism, but I'm not yet sure where it's headed or if it's worth following.

Cute stories about Abbye are always good. :D

She says she's tapped out, too. Being so doggone cute all the time is apparently quite tiring.

You know how near that Sumatra Island is to the Philippines???

Dec. 25, 2004, Christmas Day, somebody was proposing that windmills be constructed on the coastlines of 5000 Philippine Islands, of which 3,000 of the islands are Muslim territories.

The blogger thanked God for coming over and allowing humans to enter heaven, the heaven which holy people and prophets in the Old Testament, like Moses and Abraham could not enter because there was no gate.

The blogger also asked God to BLESS MUSLIMS TOO BECAUSE MUSLIMS ARE DECENDANTS OF ABRAHAM TO WHOM GOD PROMISED THAT HIS DECENDANTS WILL BE AS NUMEROUS AS THE STARS IN THE SKY.

Guess what???? Within hours, Dec. 26, THE ISLAND OF SUMATRA MOVED ALMOST 100 FEET!!!! TSUNAMI WAVES DEVASTATED THE COASTLINES OF MALAYSIA AND THAILAND!!! BUT THE COASTLINES OF THE 5,000 ISLANDS AND ISLETS THAT THE BLOGGER WAS TALKING ABOUT, ---NOT ONE OF THEM WAS DEVASTATED!!!!!

Eurasian, I'm not following what you're saying. Tens of thousands of Muslims died in the tsunami.

And, while I didn't do an exact measurement, it looks to me like the Philippines are at least a thousand miles away from Sumatra, and were doubtless sheltered from the tidal waves by the Malaysian land masses.

You can read whatever you want to into a single blog post, but I believe it was a simple matter of geography and topography, not prophecy and theology.

If you GOOGLE ---map southeast asia ---- you will find on the map that ---- only the CHINA SEA SEPARATES THE 2,000 PALAWAN ISLANDS OF THE PHILIPPINES FROM SOUTHERN SUMATRA.

TSUNAMI WAVES ARE NO RESPECTER OF DISTANCE. That's why, though the epicenter was in in Sumatra, the Tsunami waves devastated coastal towns and villages several time zones away, way far in EAST AFRICA.

IN THAILAND, MANY MANY PEOPLE WERE KILLED. YET, THAILAND WAS SEPARATED AND PROTECTED FROM THE SUMATRAN QUAKE BY MALAYSIA-------UNLIKE PALAWAN ISLAND IN THE PHILIPPINES WHICH IS SEPARATED FROM SOUTHERN SUMATRA "ONLY BY THE SEA" !!!!!!

Palawan island is that long island west of middle Philippines.

You know what protected Palawan???? THE LORD!!!!!

Yes, tens of thousands, if not more than a hundred thousand Muslims died from that Sumatran Quake-TSUNAMISES. BUT NONE OF THOSE MUSLIMS, ---- NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THOSE MUSLIMS DIED IN THE PHILIPPINES!!!

Palawan Island is laid out perpendicularly to the movement of any tidal wave remnants that might have made it that far. If a wave did, indeed, hit the island (and I don't know whether it did or not) it still would not have been nearly as damaging because it would not have moved directly onshore as it did on the most devastated shorelines to the west.

I'm not saying that God didn't protect those islands, but I am saying that sometimes, things just happen...both good and bad. God is sovereign over all things, but He also created what we call the laws of nature...physics...whatever...and when things occur according to those laws, we need to be careful in attributing divine intervention or neglect to the consequences.
