SOTU 2005: Take no prisoners

Thirty minutes into the State of the Union speech and the Democrats in the chamber have already had their eyebrows singed clean off by a President who has never sounded more, well, presidential. His presentation of the issues facing Social Security and some groundrules for fixing them was as forceful and masterful as one could ever hope for. I especially liked the reference to giving the rest of America the same retirement options that federal employees currently enjoy.

Plus, he just winked at a Supreme Court justice.

Gee, I think W's enjoying this. I know I am.

Thanks for stopping by, Mary Lou. I agree that the Prez did a fine job tonight.

Now the real work begins...

Ah, what a speech! I don't care what they say about his lack of speaking skills....he may mangle the language sometimes but his presence and poise more than make up for it! He DOES look like he's enjoying every minute of it.

Everybody who is on the "right" side in 2004 is enjoying this. There's something about Bush as a person that allows you to enjoy it with him, almost vicariously.

I've been enjoying this ever since Kerry conceded defeat at 11:17 EST, 11/03/04. I wish I was exaggerating. The days seem brighter, the air seems clearer. I catch myself humming happily for no reason at all.

Particularly when I see cars with freshly applied Kerry-Edwards '04 bumper stickers or Michael M00re's "9/11" in the "3 DVDs for $10" discard rack at Best Buy.

I got a big ole' smile on my face when the USPS Philatelic Society calalog came in, promoting the Inaugural Keepsake envelope for President Bush. As in second term President Bush.

This is what winning is allll about.

This is what winning is allll about.

Well, that and making the country a better place to live, and the world as well. But I guess that goes without saying. ;-)

I am sure I am not alone but I think we will look back in 10-15 years after W leaves the office and say he is was the top 5 presidents of all time.

Washington
Jefferson
Lincoln
Reagan
GW Bush

I know some might argue with me about FDR being on that list but I think some of FDR's moves(non-WWII related) were very questionable.
