Deconstructing Dawn's Departure

Dawn Eden discloses the reason she lost her copy-editing job at the New York Post, and links to an excellent article about her situation in the New York Observer.

I have to say that from a pure blogging perspective, the Post has done her a huge favor. Regardless of the alleged job-related excuses that are being put forth, she was essentially fired for being a conservative Christian blogger and the fallout from this should have some major reverberations.

Speaking of "didn't last long", Dawn Eden's blog is down.

Keeps saying "Error: Can't find web site www.dawneden.com"

I'm glad you've got the link. One thing's for sure. This is a great example why blogs covering the same content are never "redundant" any more than news stations covering the same events.

It's an interesting bio. Got an unintentional chuckle from journalist Sue Edelman.

"Dawn You are the most unprofessional journalist I have ever encountered in all my years in this business. A disgrace. Sue Edelman."

I'd like to hear Miz Edelman's take on D. Rather's memos, P. Jennings' "Special Reports", T. Brokaw's "Nightline", and M. M00re's movies some time.

...preferably when I'm not eating.

Must be a transient glitch...Dawn's site comes up fine for me.

This whole affair is just another in a lonnnnnnng list of reasons why a career in the Big Apple would not suit me...and why I thank God every morning that I get to live in Midland, Texas! ;-)

You're right. Her site comes up fine now. In light of the "big revelation", I was beginning to wonder what happened. It's not like it would be the first time her server got hacked.

Looks like Janjan is an "astute observer" in her own right. She noticed the same thing I did about the author's writing style. It would be sweet if this interview turned into something "more" for Dawn.

Your mentioning the goodness of living in Midland reminded me of something.

Why hasn't Dawn moved somewhere more in keeping with her faith/ politics? I've wondered off & on about that. NY is not exactly the culturally hospitable place for ideological "red-staters". My guess is she tolerates it for the music scene and the record stores. :D

I'm sure that's part of the reason, along with being close to her mom and stepdad. But, interestingly, a big part of the reason is more practical: she doesn't drive (and, apparently, will never be able to, due to some vision problems). She has to rely on public transportation, a service that seems to be a bit lacking in most Red States.
