Bet you wish you had friends like this...

...the kind who would travel from Texas to New York City, pick up some of that city's famous bagels, carry them back on the airplane and deliver them to your door as soon as they get back in town.

It's good to have friends like that. Thanks, guys...the bagels are muy delicioso!

What did you schmear on your bagels, Eric?

Butter, honey, preserves, or the ever popular cream cheese? Freshly baked, hot bagels are absolutely delicious!

Rachel, you're not fooling me a bit...you've got more friends like that than you can count!

And I'm strictly a butter schmearer, Mr. Freen, although MLB goes for the strawberry cream cheese. That's one downside of living where we do: good bagels are an extreme rarity.

"Garsh," she uttered humbly to her handsome husband. "Eric told about the bagels on the 'Zette! I think he liked 'em!"

You're welcome!

I'm wishing for the bagel carrying ones now though! You got me wanting some!!! hehehe.

Do you have Msn or anything like that. I've always thought it would be pretty cool to talk to you that way.

From where did they get the bagels? There's only one place they should have gotten them - H&H.

IMHO, of course. But they are the best bagels in NYC.

Rachel, email me for my AOL Chat buddy name, and we'll see if we can't schedule a visit sometime when I get back in town.

Jen, I make it a habit to never look a gift bagel in the...um...hole. I'll have to take your word about H&H, having never been to la Manzana Grande myself.

Rachel isn't the only one.

Your post on bagels got me thinking about the darn things so much I couldn't sleep.

Finally ended up making the very, very long drive in to get some!

It was worth the drive, though. Like you, I'm a butter schmearer and there's nothing better than a bagel warm enough to melt the butter smeared on it.

We ate H & H while we were in NYC. I agree with you - they're the best! But there wasn't an H & H location within walking distance from my sister's apt the morning we left. We chose to bring home fresh Lenny's.

Speaking of good bagels, Colorado used to have a chain that started in the Springs called "Lotsa Bagels." The Swiss cheese ones were outstanding!
