Joel Achenbach, having resolved that he will finally become a bestselling author, has posted a list of fifteen quotes and defies anyone to identify their (presumably famous) authors. I read them, and to my everlasting shame, I knew the source of only one, and another vibrated with familiarity but ultimately escaped my discernment.

Hint: An author may be represented by more than one quote.

Even if you, like me, prove to be a literary ignoramus, the excerpts should prove good reminders as to why some people are born to write, but most are simply destined to read. Even if they don't remember what they read.

Interesting.

I got #14 even before the huge clue at the end of the quote - something about the car in the shed made me think of that particular book.

I thought #6 was Dave Eggars although I wondered if it was the actual answer as well.
