The Inner Sanctum (Parte Deux)

John's Jim's [ed-argh!] post on the subject over at Serotoninrain reminded me that I've been remiss in updating you on the progress of my Corporate Headquarters Relocation Project (CHRP).

When last we visited the inner sanctum, where the Gazette is carefully handcrafted by a veritable army of pixels who are willing to sacrifice their very lives for the sake of...whatever..., it was housed in a giant and dark wooden monstrosity straight out of Charles Dickens' imagination.

Today, however, I'm pleased to report that we're now publishing from a bright and shiny new space, all frosted glass and powder-coated steel and with a view to rival that of Trump Tower penthouse dwellers.

And, in recognition of our fiduciary responsibilities to our shareholders (and in fear of SOX), we're pleased to report that the whole new shebang, purchased off the rack from our friendly neighborhood Staples, cost less than 25% of the original layout.

As before, in anticipation of the insatiable curiosity of Gazette readers, I've provided a more detailed annotated tour of the Inner Sanctum2. Click here, but count the cost, because the resulting photo is 200kb or so. I think you'll find it well worth the bandwidth, however.

Wow! Very impressive lay-out, Eric! The new furniture gives your whole system a much more futuristic look.

I love the way you used a white cough drop tin to hold up your white Sony "Watchman" LCD TV at a comfortable viewing angle while you're working. At least that's what I think it is... ;-)

Love it. Is that the same room?

I think my favorite item (next to the nerd rocket gizmo) is the fish wastebasket.

Mr. Freen, nothing gets by your keen powers of observation! ;-)

Jim (if that's your real name), the Corporate HQ is now located in our game room. It was previously housed in the master bedroom, where it was a continuing assault on the delicate fashion sensibilities of MLB. The spot we vacated has now been transformed into a lovely reading area, complete with rotating reading table/bookshelf from the Levenger Collection of Excessively Priced Yuppie Furniture.

You share Mr. Freen's eye for detail, in recognizing the fish basket. The room also boasts two fish rugs and a fish print, in keeping with the carefully crafted illusion that we really don't live in the middle of the desert.

Very nice and shiny! It was worth seeing the bigger photo!

Rachel, I'm glad you enjoyed it...it was fun putting it together.

Very nice!

I like the floor tile.

Is it always that neat? ;)

Is it always that neat?

OK, you got me there. I did unclutter the desktop a bit, but I will admit that I'm managing thus far to keep my new workspace neater than the old one. Part of it is because I have a little more space and part is just the "new car syndrome" of trying to keep things looking as pristine as the day they came out of the box. I'm sure I'll eventually descend into my usual grunginess, but at least I recorded for posterity the cleaner look.

The tile was MLB's choice, as is everything tasteful in our home. She has a very good eye for things like that.

Denise beat me to it when she asked if it was always that neat!
