O Brother, Weather's Out There
Note to self: Create new category entitled "Weather." Then, avoid putting anything in it. No one wants to read about your stupid weather. They're too busy fussing with their own stupid weather.
Yesterday's high temp was 89°. As I type this, it's 45° and it appears that we'll struggle to reach the forecast high of 51. Even if we do, we'll break the record for the lowest high temperature on this date by about 6 degrees.
It's also raining...has been since about 10:00 p.m. last night. My backyard gauge currently holds just north of 2.5" of precip...roughly 20% of what we would normally expect to get in a year. The last measurable rainfall was on August 28th; last month was the driest September on record (well, it was a tie with another shutout, date not subject to my recall abilities).
As of 1:11 p.m. CDT, no baby squirrels have been observed.
The Historical Record is now updated and resting comfortably.
Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody DOES anything about it!!
Anyway, I'm here in sunny Tel Aviv now, with a luscious beach across the street. What do I care about weather? ;)
Posted by: Patti at October 6, 2005 03:45 PMWallace, on top of all your other troubles, I'm sure that Julie is fit to be tied about the current state of things. She's made that pretty clear in the past. Maybe you could apply to Christmas in Action on an emergency basis. ;-)
Patti, I was just over at your place and noted that you're in Israel. I'd be more jealous if we didn't need the rain so badly. Aw, who am I fooling? I am jealous!
Posted by: Eric at October 6, 2005 03:49 PMDid you hear about the snowfall in North Dakota? Two feet of snow, and this after the temps were in the 90's just a few days before. Read about it here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9604065/
And I thought the weather changed quickly in Kansas!
Posted by: Linda at October 6, 2005 10:01 PMLinda, I guess we all have wacky weather at one time or another. Some attribute it to global warming; my money's on alien experimentation. Or, perhaps, Karl Rove. Although they might actually be one and the same. ;-)

The rain gauge inside my house stands at about 1 inch. I have had 3 roof repair firms out to the estate in the last several months. One decided he was too busy...all year. One was extremely high and one has not called back with a bid from his visit 2 months ago. This one warned me that if I waited too long prices would be going thru the roof [great pun], because of the hurricane rebuilding. I guess he's waiting to call back when prices are at their apex.
Roofers appear to be the new plumbers.
