Fire? What fire?

I noticed a news story on TV this morning about a local barbecue joint -- one of Midland's oldest businesses -- that experienced an early morning fire and sustained smoke damage.

I don't mean to trivialize this event, but given the, um, ambience of your average barbecue diner, I can't help wondering how they noticed.

How can you leave us hanging breathless by not mentioning which "joint" it was. Must be Johnny's.....God Forbid!

I figured all the local folks had already heard, and the others wouldn't care. But, yes...it was Johnny's.

Your doctor won't let you eat there anyway.

"but given the, um, ambience of your average barbecue diner"...

You are too funny! I guess I'm missing out on all the scoop being stuck up here in the hospital with eldest munchkin!

At least it wasn't KD's - some of my customers would have gone into mourning!

I would have joined them! We don't eat there often, but it's our favorite local place for bbq.

Oh, and I hope that your son is recuperating well!

And if left alone, how long do you think the place would burn?

My over/under is 6 years.

I dunno. I tend to believe that as grease-saturated as everything undoubtedly is, if you could get a good ignition, it all might go up like flash paper.

And now I can't stop thinking of the joke about the tornado that hit College Station and did $10 million worth of improvements.

Eric, I definitely think Brody's on the upswing, thanks so much for your prayers. We are still esconced at UMC in Lubbock, but maybe we'll be homeward bound in a couple of days.

Happy birthday, Gazette!

Janie, thanks for the greetings, and I hope that Brody continues to improve by the hour. Deer season won't wait! ;-)
