New Client Website

Just went live with a new website, one that I've peripherally alluded to but not in any recognizable way. Whatever that means.

Anyway, it's a website for a local luthier. That's someone who makes stringed instruments, but you knew that. In this case, it's a fellow named John Singletary and he designs and builds custom acoustic guitars. He does nice work -- lots of intricate marquetry and inlay using various exotic woods, abalone and mother-of-pearl. He's relatively new in the guitar business, but he's got years of experience as a woodworker.

If you're in the market for a new custom-designed acoustic, keep him in mind. I'm not an expert in the field, but the prices look pretty good for the quality.

I don't even play guitar, but I'm finding myself "needing" one of these. They stand alone as beautiful works of art. I imagine they are lovely to listen to as well. Nice website...simple and elegant!

Music to my ears. That's the defining characteristic of a successful site: the ability to create a need where none existed before. ;-)

Nice website...simple

I have an utterly unshakeable grasp on the concept of "simple." Simple is what I do... what I am... my crowning achievement.

Too bad it's so hard to get people to pay for "simple."

Simple is my motto..."less is more," or "keep it simple stupid," are words to live by. But perhaps "uncluttered" is a more marketable term.

The California Redwood guitar is very eye-catching. I think I might need that one. :)

Oh yeah, and the site design is great too. Very simple and unobtrusive. It allows you to focus on the content.

You've got a good eye...the combination of woods on that guitar makes it very fetching. I especially like the burlwood on the headstock.

Thanks for the kind words about the site design, too. ;-)

I just had a flashback. You said it's hard to get people to pay for "simple," but I went to high school with the guy who designed the first Simple shoe. He was paid a pretty penny for "Simple" (early retirement and a nice home in Santa Barbara). Thought you'd wanna know. :-)

Hmm...I didn't even know what a "Simple Shoe" was, until I visited their website. Which, by the way, isn't "simple." Effective, and fun, but not really simple.

Interesting that the company stayed in Santa Barbara, too.

Yeah, it's no longer simple cuz Eric sold out to the big dogs. I think it's owned now by the folks who bring us Teva and Ugg boots.

The guitar with the lizard(salamander?) cut around the f-hole and bridge is a classic. And $1,500 seems pretty reasonable for a custom-made guitar to me.
