BPFAA Hamming it Up

McDonald's new spoof ad site for its McRib sandwich is pretty good; they even grabbed a dot-org domain name to further the illusion. Even the privacy policy has some funny stuff (I'd link to it but the whole dang site's a Flash movie). The videos are kind of corny, but what would you expect from a pig farmers association?

However, I can't help thinking that after the huge success they had at the Utah State Fair, this would have been an absolutely perfect gig for Napoleon and Pedro. Somebody at the ad agency really fumbled the old pigskin on this one.

Eric, thanks, for a good laugh ... not a bad way to end the day.

Now, if I can just get NewsWest 9 to do an in-depth, undercover report, with LOTS of research ... I could eat McRibs ... er ... I mean, field produce for them.

Looks cool...seems like humor and satire is going to be the way to go for effective advertising...especially since the audience gets more choice in what they watch--including commericials. So commericials have to be more entertaining now.

P.S. - Do you know how I can set up to archive by category?

Brian, it just so happens that I'm working on a post devoted to the convergence of the entertainment and advertising industries... and you've noted the key challenge for both.

Regarding setting up a category archive, I don't use Blogspot so I don't know how that's accomplished under that system. Under Movable Type, it's done in the configuration options and it's a simple matter of toggling a switch, giving the index page an URL and letting the software to the rest. I'm sure Blogspot has a similar feature.

Jeff, does "boneless pig" really sound that appetizing? ;-)
