Snow!

Photos to come. (I know; just indulge me, will you?)

Update: The snow is rapidly melting, but we got a steady mini-blizzard for almost four hours this morning. Here's a view of our back yard. Interestingly, Abbye doesn't hesitate to tromp right out into the falling snow; I guess the flakes are light enough that she feels they don't pose a mortal threat...unlike those killer raindrops.

Photo - Snowfall in Midland

Snow in west Texas is not exactly uncommon, but it's still an infrequent occurrence, enough so that I'm sure I'm not the only one who trotted out the camera this morning to supplement the historical record.

I'm still waiting! It is nearly all gone already! Where are the pics?

Annie hates rain, too, but she'll hang out all day in snow.

I scooped you! My snow byline went up at 10:40 a.m. with picture.

Of course, now that I think about it, there aren't many humans who will willingly endure being out in the rain and who will also avoid a little snowfall. Not to anthropomorphize our dogs (yeah, right) but perhaps their behavior isn't that strange after all.

My post was up way ahead of yours, Wallace. I just took my time with the photo, and then updated the post time. So there.

Hmmm, my dogs are rain AND snow averse. You want me to do what? Where??? Why don't you go first? Not that my dogs are anthropomorphic or anything...but they do talk. ;-)

Lovely dusting there, Eric! We got a foot last week, after a 1-3 inch prediction. Our weather folks must have been calling in from West Texas.

If you get infrequently, that's great! Where I am, we never get it - have to travel for about 5 hours.

Wait...what is that prehistoric looking thing in the rosemary bushes?

Rachel, that's how far we have to travel to see enough to do anything useful in the snow...like ski. Otherwise, we usually get less than 6" of snowfall over the course of an entire winter.

Wait...what is that prehistoric looking thing in the rosemary bushes?

Don't tell me you've never seen a yellow T-Rex with blue eyes. What a sheltered life you CPAs lead! But, you are very observant, so you've got that going for you.

He's a little faded...needs a new paint job, but, then, don't we all?

And, not to pick nits, but that's not rosemary (we do have a rosemary bush but it's around the corner; the low-lying stuff is blue rug juniper, the bigger shrubs are...are...are...well, not rosemary, and the tall prehistoric-looking thing in the background is another kind of juniper.

Indian Hawthorne! (I knew I'd eventually think of it.)

No, I've never seen one with blue eyes...how very charming. And I was referring to the bush around the corner when I mentioned rosemary. I'm very observant, clairvoyant, even. ;-)

And I was referring to the bush around the corner when I mentioned rosemary.

Oh, did I say "rosemary"? I meant "thyme." ;-)

Clairvoyant. Heh.

Midland now receives a one-year Honorary Member to the White Christmas club. Somehow I doubt they're going to qualify for a Life Membership.

Are you going to buy a snowblower? ;-)

Are you going to buy a snowblower?

Actually, I've got one. It's one of those battery powered personal fans, and it takes care of about 99% of the snow we get around here. ;-)
