The Terror Alert may be at yellow...
...but the ice cream alert should be red (with a bullet).
The supermarket where we do most of our shopping is completely out of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream, every variety.
I could hear wailing and gnashing of teeth all over the store. It was, of course, me.
This is a disaster of epic proportions.
Oh my... Now that you have made this fact public I can just hear their stock price crashing as I type.
It's a crime I tell ya, and a shame.....
BTW - My store had plenty when I stopped by last night to indulge my sweet tooth. Shall I ship you some???
Posted by: shannon at January 9, 2006 01:28 PMPoor Eric....
Posted by: Rachel at January 9, 2006 02:45 PMThe... horror...
Posted by: Jim at January 9, 2006 03:01 PMGwynne, the only thing I'm going to crank is the starter on my Durango to take me to another grocery store!
I can tell that the rest of you aren't nearly as sympathetic as you should be. I can assure you that I'd be crying for you as I ate my Blue Bell ice cream, were the tables turned.
Posted by: Eric at January 9, 2006 03:07 PMI'm sorry if I don't seem too sympathetic to your plight. If Blue Bell was even sold around here I might be sore afraid of finding it out of stock.
As it is, however, Mr. Frozen Foods manager had better make sure my Edy's Espresso Chip (or better yet, Spumoni) is in the case when I go to market!
Or there's gonna be some trouble.
Posted by: Jim at January 9, 2006 06:19 PMI guess every region has its favorites. Down here, spumoni is practically non-existent.
Posted by: Eric at January 10, 2006 06:54 AMI'd ship you some, man, but I'm not sure how it'd turn out. :)
Posted by: Stephen Shores at January 10, 2006 09:52 AMStephen, thanks for the offer, but Spumoni Soup doesn't sound all that appetizing. ;-)
Posted by: Eric at January 10, 2006 03:02 PMThis is a disaster of epic proportions.
For some reason, I keep reading this as "a disaster of eRic proportions." ;-)
Posted by: Denise at January 10, 2006 10:15 PMAnd your point would be...?
Contrary to what Rick Warren believes, it is all about me, me, me! ;-)
Posted by: Eric at January 10, 2006 10:18 PMN.B. I hope those renegade italics don't consume everything in their wake.
Posted by: Eric at January 10, 2006 10:19 PMA little off topic here, but I was shocked over the New Year's holiday to be driving down Interstate 10 south of Phoenix, Ariz., and to pass a Blue Bell Ice Cream truck-trailor on the highway. I knew they expanded their distribution area past Monahans last year (part of the deal to start producing Pecos Cantaloupe ice cream), and were opening a new distribution center in El Paso, but if they're selling all the way out to central Arizona, the little creamery in Brenham has really ramped up their production.
Posted by: John at January 11, 2006 10:37 PMJohn, your story sort of reminds me of the old days when Coors wasn't available in east Texas. When I was in school at A&M, it commanded quite a premium price for those west Texas students bold enough to load up their trunks and transport it to College Station.
Not that I have any firsthand knowledge of that.

Mmmm...Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla is THE BEST!
Posted by: Gwynne at January 9, 2006 10:31 AMHow could they let such a thing happen?! There's nothing else that compares, except the hand-cranked variety. You better forego the upper body workout for today and start cranking. :-)
