"You're so vain, you probably think this book is about you."
The book I'm now reading is entitled "A Reader's Manifesto: An Attack on the Growing Pretentiousness in American Literary Prose."
Let the fun begin.
I hope to hear your synopsis after completion.
The author certainly has a valid point. But, then again, I suspect that most good, well written books never make it to the New York Time's top ten list.

The most obvious attraction is the author's constrasting of examples of "good" and "bad" prose, but equally (if not more) fascinating is that he pulls no punches in taking on some of the brighter stars in the literary awards pantheon.
Plus, I just finished reading a new novel by a highly acclaimed writer and had these vague feelings that what I read was, well, pretentious. This book is giving me some vocabulary for expressing those feelings. ;-)

I added it to my wishlist for when I have money later. It looks good - is it?
