Wonked Out

OK, I admit it. When I read this, I immediately thought this:

Yeah, like you didn't think the same thing?

"Honkies don't care nothin' for the black man, they don't care if black people ever get anything in New Orleans, they don't care if we are dirt poor and uneducated".......

What the mayor meant to say was that blacks were a vital part of New Orleans' history and culture and should be encouraged to return.

You'd make a good press agent. Mayor Nagin could use the help.

Isn't "honkey" a racial perjorative against Caucasians?

I hear the Nagins and Sharptons and Jacksons of the world use it so often, I can't possibly believe they'd intentionally mean it as a slur. Oh no.

His Honor, Mr. Nagin might want to re-read some of Genesis before claiming to know what sort of a racial make-up God prefers in New Orleans.

A quick peek at Genesis 19:23-28 might be in order, too.

That's first class photo-shopping, btw!

I didn't notice Pat Robertson's name in there though. Surely, there's room for him too.

He sounded too much like Louis Farrakahn (?) (who he has met with) for me, frankly. He knew he was going to be speaking at the celebration, he knew there would be media coverage, and he couldn't be bothered to prepare ahead of time.

If he was just sinking himself, I wouldn't care. I figure that's his right just as its mine.

The problem is he's sinking New Orleans with his continuing arrogance and ignorance, and the folks who are there to rebuild--black, white, uptown, lakeview--deserve better.

Put him on the same island as "He was just crying out for help" Blanco and get some leadership in here.
