SB 14
Outback's "both times I was thrown out, I came back" ad...
I don't care if they hired Elvis Costello and taught him to speak with an Aussie accent, it still doesn't work.
Seattle has 1:51, no times out (timeouts?) and the ball on its own 20. Why am I telling you this? I don't know. It's just what I do.
Abbye's getting a bath. She's about as happy as most Seattle fans.
The Seahawks are down to their last, um, down. Completed pass for a first down. Time to do something dramatic. Madden says throw it into the end zone, and if you don't get it, kick a field goal. Why am I telling you this?

I bet with all Abbye's hair, it takes a while for her to dry out!
Posted by: Janie at February 5, 2006 09:08 PMI didn't like the Outback ad ... didn't work for me as a potential customer ... I'd be afraid of running into that guy ...
Maybe, I'm spoiled as a reviewer of the SB ads, because I've had some experience, at the local market level, in writing and producing commercials ...
I find myself looking for something that shows a spark of creativity in the way it's set, shot, presented ... something different ... something that catches my eye and my mind, and holds them, waiting to see what's coming ...
In that respect, I especially liked the ad for Cadillac Escalade (the fashion runway ad) ...
For sheer entertainment, I really liked the FedEx caveman ad ...
And the "Stunt City" ad ... especially with the little sight gag at the very end ...
A couple of other spots that I liked A LOT weren't really ads, but promotions ... the all-star reading of "Oh, the Places You'll Go" before the start of the game, and the NFL "family" promo at the end of the first half (the one that finished with Jerome Bettis, his mom and dad, and a Bus-load of kids ... in the case of both of those, the appeal was almost entirely emotional ... neither really pushed any artistic or technical envelopes ... but appeals to sense of family appeal to me, and "O,TPYG" was afavorite bedtime read for the boys and I ...
Long and long-winded, I realize ... I appreciate your patience ...

Gene, I feel sorry for anyone relying on my play-by-play!
Janie, unfortunately Abbye's lost so much of her hair due to being sick that she dries pretty fast.
Jeff, congratulations to the Steelers for winning the World Cup.
