Did you ever think you'd hear this question?

At what time did the President learn that the Vice President was the shooter?

From today's White House press briefing, during which I have no doubt that had Scott McClellan had access to a shotgun, Dick Cheney would have been shoved to page 6 in tomorrow's newspapers.

The incident is almost tailor made for anti-hunting and anti-gun groups.

They're going to do their level best to draw a perverse syllogism that because Mr. Cheney is a Republican (nominally pro-gun), a hunter, and shot someone

...then all other pro-gun Republicans, hunters (and supporters of hunting) are likely to do the same.

Well, let 'em take their best shot. (Ha!)

It's funny the different ways the press is describing the incident, from "the attorney went off on his own and then crept back toward the others without announcing himself as Dick shot at some quail flushed out of the brush, stray pellets spraying the attorney 30 ft away," to "and then Dick turned around and shot him." I hadn't yet heard your quote...sheesh!

Oh, the White House press pool was in a tizzy at being left out of the loop, as if someone in Texas getting a dose of shot during a bird hunt was actual news. I swear, you'd have thought that they'd just uncovered a Watergate-sized cover-up or conspiracy or something. I don't know how Scott McClellan kept from either convulsing with laughter at their ridiculous posturing, or ordering the Secret Service guys to get all medieval with them.

Janie, my experience with that "feature" of Amazon is that it returns the same results for any fool thing you type in. But the ability to get a low price on my next Hunting Accident is quite tempting. Up to now, they've been costing me an arm and a leg. (Double Ha!)

Okay, go to sleep. Too much Cheney-ing for you. At least it wasn't at the Mota Bonita ranch!
