Oh, this is SO not right...
Running Windows XP on Intel Macs

How many times must we repeat that just because you can do a thing doesn't mean you should do that thing.
Perhaps it would be better to wait for Vista. And wait. And wait.
Am I to assume then, that you did not donate to those guys and get a link at the bottom of the page? ;-)
Posted by: Jim at March 22, 2006 06:25 AMBrian, don't tell anyone I said this, but I agree that it would be great to be able to natively run multiple OSes on my Mac. I stopped using Virtual PC years ago because it was so slow and buggy. I'd love to be able to stop switching over to an old Windows laptop to see how a new website design looks and works.
Jim, I wanted to, but they didn't accept donations of a fraction of a yen.
Posted by: Eric at March 22, 2006 06:34 AMI think Eric is just feeling the pressure from so many PC users around.
come on Eric...admit it we got cooler programs than you :).
Seriously, I would like to play around with a mac but I feel like doing so I would be commiting some kind of crime.

OK, you got me there. I've always envied you guys your cool anti-virus programs, and your anti-spyware apps really rock. Oh, and I almost forgot the awesome security patches (although I'll admit that Apple seems to be trying to catch up on that front).
...but I feel like doing so I would be commiting some kind of crime.
Well, I understand, but you might find yourself with some good partners-in-crime like, say, Josh Marshall and Andrew Sullivan.
Posted by: Eric at March 22, 2006 11:03 AMHmm, ok you got a point there...but hey what about...umm, ah, never mind.
Granted part of the reason I've never tried out a Mac is that noone has really ever developed decent adaptive technology for the platform. Maybe with the new Intel chips that will change.
Posted by: Reagan at March 22, 2006 10:09 PMReagan, I understand your concern about the adaptive technology. Decent text-to-speech software has been noticeably lacking from the Mac platform since day one; developers have done a poor job of porting the Windows versions over to the Mac OS, or just haven't bothered with a Mac version at all.
I don't know if the switch to Intel chips will be a direct factor in that changing, other than possibly increasing the Mac user base enough to make the market more attractive to developers.

Yeah, yeah. That's because hardly anyone uses a Mac and it's just not worth it to create a virus to make...oh...about 100 Mac fanatics angry.
Hey, I kid because I love. :)
I heard they're going to port Windows Vista to the Mac and make the Apple OS an open source thingee.

You and Reagan have been hanging out again, haven't you? ;-)

Thanks for the pointer. I'm actually hoping to do just that when the Intel hardware stabilizes and my computer budget is replenished. I want one computer that runs MacOS, Linux and Windows. Just to see it happen. (Not that I know it's currently unstable, I'm just generally opposed to buying the first version of any major change.)
The image you've chosen, however, is sure to give me nightmares.
