One more Apple/Windows post
For those who remain skeptical about the reasons Apple introduced Boot Camp, I strongly advise taking ten minutes to read Jon Gruber's analysis over at Daring Fireball.
He'll explain, among other things, why Apple doesn't care whether [many] people think its computers are too expensive, why Microsoft has to pretend not to care about this move, why "dual boot" is likely to quickly make way for "concurrent operation," and why Apple's new Boot Camp logo is cool and a bit saucy, at least from a marketing perspective.
Technorati tag: Boot Camp
Reading all these articles you post makes me want to go buy my own.
Posted by: ern at April 7, 2006 12:27 AMI'm with ern, here... I'm starting to twitch a little...
When the iBook starts to flicker, I'll shed a tear of joy for the opportunity it brings. So long as it doesn't happen 'til after they get some rev B or C hardware out, that is.
Posted by: Brian at April 7, 2006 06:10 AMErn, that's music to Steve Jobs's ears. Just make sure you first place an order for a Porsche so you can fit in with the rest of us. We're a pretty exclusive club, you know.
Brian, it looks like your dream of having a triple-OS CPU is starting to come to pass. Use The Force wisely, young Jedi.

The point is that it recasts Macs from being “different” to being “special”.
What I've said all along -- Macintosh people are the cool kids who buy Porsches.
This is the smartest thing he says:
All Apple needs to do to be spectacularly successful with its computer business in the next few years is to take just a few single digits of market share away from Windows.
So even if Apple only has 2 percent of the total market today, it’s 2 percent from the best part of the market.
Those Porsche drivers again...
Like I told Weidner, when Apple drops the Mac Tablet, the Pocket Mac, and the Smartphone Mac, I'll be here to remind yall raving about dual-boot that us dumb old Camaro-driving PCers have been here a loooooong time.
Welcome to the Wintel world, sir.
