Two Kids and Some Old Folks

I know I said I wasn't posting this week, but some things just can't be ignored.

Here's a photo of my nephew and his friend (and commanding officer, now that I think about it...she's also the daughter of this guy).

Those other two folks look vaguely familiar, but I'm not sure why they're in the scene. Probably just wandered up.

Photo - George & Barbara Bush and ROTC Kids

Actually, the former president and his wife, as well as the current First Lady were in Midland today attending the dedication of the George W. Bush Childhood Home, which is now an Official Presidential Site. The kiddos were in attendance as part of the Honor Guard provided by the Midland High School Air Force Junior ROTC.

I'm not sure why Laura Bush isn't in this shot, unless she has a strict one-photo-per-family policy.

Comments

Yay! The comments page is working for me again - It wouldn't even give me any where to write yesterday and so I was going to say have a great break!

Anyway - to the topic in hand - He looks very spiffy in his uniform! Did you take the photo?

And I was going to suggest that you beware flesh-eating catfish. Or something. I just wanted to say something, but the comments weren't working for me either. 8-{

But Wow! That's a very cool photo of your nephew and friend! Thanks for sharing.

I had comments turned off on the previous post, since it was just supposed to be an "administrative notice." I'm rather annoyed that it still provided the Comments link, however, which obviously led to folks getting frustrated trying to leave comments. I apologize for that.

Anyway, Rachel, I didn't take the photo...I'm not sure who did. It came to us via the Nephew's mom.

Gwynne, if we run into any human-eating catfish where we're headed, then we've taken a seriously wrong turn. But, given the way things have gone thus far this week (it's only Tuesday?!), that's not out of the question.

No apologies necessary, unless of course, you meant to cause us frustration. ;-)

Looking forward to hearing about the "fishing" trip. Or will that be up for public discussion? Maybe I'm being presumptive. Well, if I don't "see" you before then, have a most blessed Easter (and let us know when the DVD of the Passion Play is available).

I'm planning on providing a report at some point...I hope it will be more upbeat than the last vacation story.

And I understand that the DVD is nearing completion. It may be ready in a week or so.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Easter as well. I'm sorry that the 15th falls on the 17th this year; that may not bode well for your ability to have a relaxing Easter, but give it a try anyway.

Eric, Thank you for recognizing our kids. The kids really enjoyed meeting the Former President and Former First Lady.

I'm sorry that the 15th falls on the 17th this year

And here in KC, we celebrate Cinco de Mayo on the 6th this year (last year it was the 7th). :-\

But Easter on the day before tax day (and Passover for my Jewish co-workers) just stinks.

Ofie, the honor's all mine. And I saw your daughter's quote in the newspaper coverage this morning!

Gwynne, on the positive side (I suppose), you're good until 2017, as far as a repeat of this calendrical fiasco.

I was at the dedication and remarked to my friend who attended with me, "I know that guy in the color guard!" I'm SO pleased he was able to have this photo taken! What an incredible keepsake! What a rakishly handsome young man!

Phyllis, Thank you for that comment. I tend to think he's rather handsome - but then I am a little prejudiced!

Hey! I think your nephew will be working the Midland High Junior ROTC station at the Bad Boy Blast next weekend!

Great picture, good looking young man! You have every right to be a proud uncle!
