The Cuz Does It Again
My pro golfing cousin, Brad Bryant, won another tournament on the Champions Tour today, as he came from behind to win the Region's Charity Classic in Alabama by two strokes. He pocketed a cool $240,000, not bad for three days of chasing a little white ball around the countryside.
That's his second tour victory this year and while I haven't seen the actual updated numbers, I think today's payday puts him at around $750,000 for the year.
Beth, I think a lot of people underestimate the skill -- physical and mental -- needed to excel at golf. I fall into the same category as you...I've played the game only a few times, but enough to realize that it's much harder than it looks, and more so because of the huge amounts of money now at stake on the pro tours.
the generic word and said it was "questionable content"
I've been the recipient of so much pøker spam that I finally had to add it to my blacklist. Don't take it personally. ;-)
Not that you're necessarily just an every day folk. Unless you're ok with that.
I can think of no finer appellation. In fact, I may revise my will to include a request that my epitaph read something like "He was just an every day folk...albeit unique...just like everyone else."
Golf is probably much more respectable.
Heh. I suspect that from a gåmbling perspective, a LOT more money gets wagered every day on the golf courses than in every pøker parlor combined.

You know, wagering on golf would never have entered my mind. Then again, the amount of time each week I spend thinking about golf is so small as to be immeasureable.

Wow. I'm really in the wrong line of work. :) Of course, having tried golfing exactly twice, I know it's harder than it looks - so yay for your cousin! There's an elderly gentleman at our church whose son is a world Texas Hold 'Em champion and earns upwards of $2Million every year doing this. It always just amazes me that these people have family who are just everyday folk. (I don't know for sure that's the particular game that he plays but your blog apparently doesn't like the generic word and said it was "questionable content".)

Of course, I always chuckle a little since we go to a Southern Baptist church. Some people just don't know whether to say "congratulations" or "I'll pray for him to get a real job." ;) Golf is probably much more respectable.
