Beware of Ants

Deborah over at SanLeon.net -- she of the exquisite Glove Box Stories -- sent me the following photo, taken at a local residence, this afternoon:

Photo - Protected by Fire Ants

I don't know about you, but I'd rather face a Doberman or a Rottie than a mass of agitated fire ants!

I did have to face a doberman today on the route. He woofed once, saying, "I think you might wanna stay in that there car of yours Mr. Mailman." So I did.

Looks like those folks are going to have to pick up their parcel at the post office.

I would prefer not to have to face anything that's agitated.

After watching CSI, I can understand why you wouldn't want to spend time with agitated fire ants!

Jim, discretion is the better part of valor, and I don't recall anything in the mailman's creed (or whatever it's called) that lumps "large agitated mammals with large sharp teeth" in with sleet, snow and rain.

Rachel, I guess I missed that episode of CSI. Sounds intriguing. ;-)

My mom is a built-in fire ant hill locater. If there are fire ants to be found, she'll do so - most often by standing in the middle of their mound. Then she wonders why her feet are swollen for the next four weeks.

I think I'd vote for the doberman, though as dogs go, they're my least favorite.

Eric, It involves a guy being buried alive (one of the team) in a coffin filled with fire ants. Not to be too graphic but they started eating him alive and there was not much he could do about it. I don't watch CSI but I watched it to see what fire ants looked like :) I blame you hehe.

Oh plz dont talk about ants. I had a very bad experience with them, wen i was wearing my t-shirt and exactly after 5 mins i realised there were ants all over. They had bitten me so severly, that even recollecting it i can feel the pain of the time.
