Cool Rabbit
Apparently, squirrels aren't the only creatures around here who are getting tired of the heat:

This photo was taken by one of the volunteers at Midland's Sibley Nature Center. It shows a lanky jackrabbit stretched out in the shade, trying to stay cool in the afternoon heat. You'd almost mistake him for roadkill, but those ears give him away.
Cute bunny!
Yes, I know, jackrabbits are not bunnies, blah blah. But I stand by my original comment: Cute bunny.
Sending prayers for coolness your way though. :)

I think it's fascinating to watch animals. I think we all think that animals are limited in what they do (eat, sleep, mate), but I think they are much more varied than we imagine- playing, problem solving and so on
Posted by: Jennifer at July 26, 2006 08:10 AMI don't know about the ears ... it seems to me that, no matter how many times the remains of a rabbit get run over, at least one ear manages to keep flying ... Peter Cottontail flipping-off drivers from the grave?
Posted by: Jeff at July 26, 2006 08:21 AMI saw a bunny (a real bunny, not a Jack Rabbit) spread eagle in the grass, with both ears straight up, the other day and thought of your squirrel. I'd never noticed them so prone before. Poor hot critters!
