Yep, I'm one in a hundred million...

From Jon (the Totally Unique Jon) over at Random Commands, comes this little nomenclatural exercise:

HowManyOfMe.com
LogoThere are:
3
people with my name
in the U.S.A.

How many have your name?

This is a fascinating tool, good for endless hours of useful research. For example, I now know that there is no one in the United States named "Bob Tomato." If there are any expectant mothers reading this, they might want to keep that in mind.

Thanks for recommending the site, Eric, but a little extra research would have informed you that there are 17 folks named "Ima Beefsteak-Tomato." Obviously it's the kind of name you don't want to lose in a marriage.

Well, this is either good or bad. There are zero people in the U.S. with my first name and zero with my last name which, according to the website, makes my name "relatively" uncommon. I'm wondering, if I don't live in the U.S., where exactly might I live? The good news is I don't need to worry about identity theft...maybe?

Ooops...sorry 'bout that. 8-}

I'm not sure about the veracity of this deal. I can guarantee that this is not true.....

There are 113,988 people in the U.S. with the last name Craig.

What I found fascinating was the following (found upon looking up Tim's uniqueness):

99.84 percent of people with the first name Timothy are male

I feel really, really sorry for that .26 percent of people out there named Timothy who are not male.

Beth, I think "Timothy" means "gentle pixie dancer with twinkling grace steps" in the Kangawharinimangoti dialect of the South Pacific, so it's not the burden for females you might otherwise think it to be.

Someone else e-mailed me this link today, and I tried it.

I don't exist, apparently.

Thanks for the link, Eric.

Foo, don't worry, it appears my little sister is imaginary too.

I don't exist either. In fact my family doesn't exist. Bummer.
Of course the population the website lists is under 300,000,000, could it be that their database is missing a few people?

Posted by: soccer dad at October 24, 2006 01:03 PM

Yeah, their database seems to have hiccuped a few million people into the ether.
