Ugh. It was like the Buckeyes forgot that there might be someone coming after the quarterback.
Somehow, they were not at all the same team they'd been all year.
It will be a sad day at work, today...
Posted by: Brian at January 9, 2007 05:36 AMThe announcers kept referring to OSU's 51-day layoff, and I tend to believe that that had something to do with their performance. I also think that in college football, more than half the battle is emotional, and Florida came in with something to prove...not unlike Boise State vs. Oklahoma.
I don't know, Wallace. I have a hard time judging a player based on one game. Besides, I doubt that there's a QB in the country who will play well without an offensive line.

If for no other reason than to see what trick plays Boise might have up their sleeve for THAT matchup. ~Cool stuff~
Me, too. I can't imagine that it wouldn't be a more entertaining game than the one I saw last night.
Posted by: Eric at January 9, 2007 03:38 PMthe sad truth is that we will never see anything that resembles that. the Boise States of the world just won't generate enough $ for that to happen. you do remember the post you had earlier about how much BS coach makes vs 'bama?
Posted by: lyle at January 9, 2007 06:33 PMCan I make a "chick pick?" A chick pick is based on anything except the team's actual record ... like the color of the uniform, the school mascot, or how cute the quarterback is ;-)
I pick Boise State, because the college hosts a yearly jazz festival in honor of my favorite jazz pianist ... Gene Harris.
Posted by: Deborah at January 9, 2007 07:05 PMYeah, but Florida's got the hottest coach...with the weirdest name! My Little Methodist picked up his Florida cap at the mall last night.
Posted by: julie at January 10, 2007 12:50 PMDeborah, your criteria for selection makes just as much sense as that apparently used by the "experts" in deciding that the only undefeated Division I team left in America is no better than number 5 overall. You know those experts, don't you? They're the ones who had OU as prohibitive favorites over BS, and OSU as big favorites over Florida.
Hmm. I guess that's why they play the game. Too bad they won't let Florida and Boise State "play the game."
Julie, my wife and I were discussing that very thing. Urban Myer. Strange. She wondered if he has a brother named Rural.

I think that last year the best player in college football received the Heisman Trophy. This year, I would tend to doubt it.
