Super Bowl 2007: 2nd Quarter
Someday, I hope someone can explain to me the technology behind their ability to overlay a stripe across the field to show where the first down line is. How do they lay it on top of the field, but under the players?
Road Trip may turn out to be a lame movie, but the trailer is hilarious.
#27 - Sprint : Connectile dysfunction
OK, I'm out for dinner. Catch you after half time.

Benson's knee injury will keep him out of the rest of the game. Hope it's not more serious than that.
Here's a shout-out to Tommy, Toni, Lee, Jenny, Larry, Lucretia, Andye, and whoever else showed up at the Lent House On the Prairie. At least your son knows how to use a computer! ;-)

#25 - GM: laid-off robot, contemplating suicide (dream sequence)
Cute; catchy ending. I'm a sucker for despondent robots.
#26 - Coke: Black history month
Punch line alludes to the head coaches in today's game. Not sure how I feel about that connection.

Indy takes the lead on a touchdown. Inevitable, actually.
#24 - Bud Lite: slappers
Really, really stupid. Go Daddy gets some company. Maybe they can slap the chippie in the wet t-shirt.
***
OK, this is exciting. There are hamburgers being cooked and guacamole being assembled in the kitchen.
#21 - Careerbuilder.com: employees in the jungle
Works better if you've ever worked in a corporate office.
#22 - Doritos: grocery checker's commentary on shopper's choices
I tried to like it more.
#23 - Chevy: car-washing guys (amateur submission winner)
Sorry, just too contrived.

I think I forgot to mention that Indy just kicked a field goal. Score is 14-9, Bears. Be still, my beating heart.
By the way, Kyle and Jim -- I'm reading (and appreciating) your comments...just don't have time to respond.

#19 - Budweiser: lost dog
I'm a sucker for a good lost dog commercial.
#20 - Garmin: Godzilla map
Lame-o.
I just realized that my "One Ant" rating image was defective. It's fixed now. I'm sure Go Daddy is grateful.

They finally confirmed what I said at the beginning: that was the first opening kickoff for a TD in SB history. Also said that Benson was questionable for the rest of the game, due to a knee injury. Shame, really.
Again, in case you're just showing up, there'll be one post per quarter here. Refresh the browser should you have the poor judgment to return.
But I'm glad you're here, however temporarily.
i enjoyed the careerbuilder.com ad
Posted by: kyle at February 4, 2007 06:34 PMKyle, I was so focused on blogging that I didn't even catch that. Is Joe Biden in the booth? ;-)
Posted by: Eric at February 4, 2007 06:34 PMi think it's michael richards, but i haven't heard any "giddyup!"'s yet.
Posted by: kyle at February 4, 2007 06:36 PMThat slappie commerical really stunk... until the end. That last one made me laugh out loud.
Posted by: Jim at February 4, 2007 06:42 PMyeah see?!? that coke commercial, insinuating the same thing that the announcer did. am i missing something here?!? is it every african-american's dream to play and/or coach in the super bowl??? isn't that stereotype the opposite of advancement?
Posted by: kyle at February 4, 2007 06:42 PMi think my folks know how to use a computer, there's just a good chance that their windows machine just isn't working. especially if they've already upgraded to vista.
Posted by: kyle at February 4, 2007 06:45 PMYou're doing great, Eric! Keep up those finger limbering exercises. You're an eggsample to us all. (By the way, how come your filter wont let e[x]ampl through?)
Posted by: Jim at February 4, 2007 06:46 PMOkay, Eric - we're checking in! Wish you were here to enjoy the good chili, etc - you too, Kyle!
We agree with you pretty much so far. My fav. thus far id "dragging'" the mouse!
Keep up the good work!
Oops, Kyle...we're busted!
Jim, I have the same question. I tried to post a comment yesterday with "exåmple" and after it kicked out, I check my blacklist and couldn't find a reason why that word is being rejected.
Toni, I'm sure the food and company are great...wish we could be in two places at once!
Posted by: Eric at February 4, 2007 07:17 PMMy favorite ad was the GM robot. Maybe it's because of those years at the Corvette assembly plant...
Posted by: Foo at February 4, 2007 07:32 PMGosh, I figured both you Texas guys would see the HEB spot. Too bad; it was a good one.
Posted by: Eric at February 4, 2007 07:36 PMOkay, I'm sorry to miss all the comraderie during the game, but just my 2 cents again...the homeless "Dalmatian" stole my heart, as did the GM robot. ;-)
BTW, I'm impressed with your commentary on the game as well as the commercials. Of course, I'm not really watching the game, so there may be no truth to what you're saying, but still...
And I was a little bothered by the Coke ad, not really understanding their point. Like Kyle said, it seemed to be perpetuating a stereotype, but then, I was also unaware that this is the first time an African American coach would win the Super Bowl.

wow, i like how one of the announcer's just basically said: "we've been celebrating black history month in this country for many years now, and many african-americans have done great things in literature, etc., but this is what it's all about! [referring to one of the colts' coaches]" ah, advancing life for african-americans everywhere.
