Image Resolution: Clearing the Fog

Update: I've fixed the link to the article by adding, you know, an actual link. Sorry about that!

One of the most confusing areas of graphic design for many people seems to be image resolution. How does one go about making sense of DPI, pixel size, print size, etc?

While I can't guarantee that you'll find the answers to all of your questions in this area, I do think that this article is one of the better attempts at bringing the issues into clearer, um, resolution.

Gee I was all excited about learning more about image resolution, but when I clicked on the link there was nothing there. Is this a JOKE or something. Maybe a late April Fools joke? Oh Well.

I've been doing this stuff for a long time, have used PS and PS Elements, plus several other packages, but I still learned some new stuff from this article. It pretty well "resolved" things for me... Thanks!

Winston, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who still finds some of this stuff confusing even after years of working with it.

Where was this last year when I was taking my Photoshop class? Ah, well, this article still made it easier to understand, and that is saying a bit: my instructor did a great job.

I could benefit from a Photoshop class, except the version I use every day is about four generations old (maybe five). If I can ever afford to upgrade, I may have to start from scratch.
