Very funny, Mother Nature...
I'm reporting live on the road from the little German town in the Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg, where it's been raining, snowing, and sleeting for the past 12 hours. Good thing we got a long bike ride in yesterday, because that will do it for the weekend.
In the meantime, here's one of Abbye's new friends from the B&B we're calling home for a few days:

There's a small herd of llamas living out back, and they're fascinated by Abbye. They ignore us -- the humans -- but as soon as she appears in the back yard, they coming running from the pasture up to the fence to investigate her.
As far as I can tell, they couldn't care less about this weather.
Beware the llama. They can be mean. Cute, yes, but that's just to draw you in so they can spit on you (and your little dog too). ;-)
Posted by: Gwynne at April 7, 2007 05:20 PMHey! We were in Brady (with a side jaunt to Austin to shop at Ikea) over the past couple of days - not far from where you guys were!
We cut our trip short when the foul weather hit this morning and fought our way back home thru some incredibly nasty sleet & snow. Took us a bit more than 5 hours to make what is normally a 3.5 hour trip. Yuck!
Posted by: Rob O. at April 7, 2007 06:16 PMI would take a llama any day over a pack of hormone engorged pre-teen boys roaming the neighborhood with ice packed snowballs in hand. We already had our storm door smacked once and my wife (the ex teacher) went out and gave them the eye, which sent them scurrying, like the rats they are, out of the light of her all seeing eye. Maybe I could train me some o' them Llamas to attack them...
Side note...Dave Brubeck's Shortnin' Bread is playing right now on the ole' pc...thank's Eric...I love that song...
Posted by: Mark at April 7, 2007 07:47 PMI love llamas.
And we got snow here, as well. Which was fascinating though the puppies loved it.
Fredericksburg is so fun - visited there when I visited my aunt and uncle in Austin last. Have a good vacation!
Posted by: beth at April 7, 2007 08:56 PMY'all have a blessed Easter, Eric.

Don't forget to feed Tina.
Love,
Grandma
Kyle, it will probably be 85 later this week, too. Weird.
Gwynne, we were on alert for the spitting thing, but they never got that close. I didn't realize they could make such funny noises, though.
Rob, I think a lot of folks changed their plans on Saturday. You could actually drive down the main drag at F'burg in less than 30 minutes!
Mark, I'm glad you've got Brubeck to help soothe your anger. ;-)
Beth, llamas seem to be a new cash crop in the Texas Hill Country. We saw a bunch of them on various ranches throughout the area. I don't recall seeing any even five years ago.
Thanks, Janie. It was good -- always is, you know? ;-) Hope yours was as well.
Scott, my wife and I actually joked about that as we were looking over the fence at the llamas. I had just watched ND on DVD a couple of days earlier. Hilarious.
