Storm Report
For those who might be hearing dire reports from Midland-Odessa (hi, Mom!), things in northwest Midland, where we are, are just wet. We've had almost 2" of rain in less than an hour, but no hail and the winds haven't been too bad. Also, it looks like the worst of the storms have passed, if the radar is accurate.
On the other hand, south and east of Midland, there are reports of huge hail, and even in northeast Midland, reports of tornado sightings. In fact, MLB just called on her cell phone from the basement of the Claydesta Building, where everyone has been evacuated waiting for the all clear related to those tornado reports. Don't think there's anything to it, but better safe than sorry.
We always appreciate the rain, but, really...we don't need it all at once, or in solid form!
The wind's finished blowing here, and the house is still on the slab. All clear.
At least until I get a chance to go outside and look for missing shingles.
Posted by: Foo at May 2, 2007 08:40 PMWow...is the basement of Claydesta safe? I was in there at 7:40 this morning delivering breakfast to Oxy and it was a flooded mess! They said it flooded from the 6th floor down.
Did it get your wife's office, too?
Posted by: Janie at May 2, 2007 09:54 PMJanie, I think you're referring to the flooding from the broken sprinkler system that occurred over the weekend. That flooded the fifth floor on down; MLB's office is on 6. But the parking garage was apparently spared; no mention was made this morning about any standing water.
It will be months before last weekend's damage is fully remediated. That system is designed to put out 1,000 gallons of water a minute, and it ran for 30 minutes before it was discovered and shut off. Yikes!

Eric, same weather report here, a little to the south and a couple miles east. Loving it ... though my favorite landman did come home in advance of the rain, and traded the Buick for my higher-riding pickup ..... you know how it is, with what passes for storm drains in the Tall City!
