Fancy Free Friday

Today is the rarest of days: my wife's "regularly scheduled every other Friday day off" in which (1) she will actually be able to take the day off, and (b) we have no outgoing travel or incoming visitor obligations.

So, our agenda today contains...nothing. Nothing "official," at least. But since it's been ten weeks since we've been to a movie together (Wild Hogs), and since it's already been raining this morning, this seems like a perfect day to take in either Spiderman 3 or Shrek the Third. It might also be a good day to browse the local bookstore looking at floor plans while consuming mass quantities of frothed caffeine and wholesome frosted pastries. (Tip: Barnes & Noble has been featuring some wicked cupcakes lately.)

Hope your weekend is equally subject to your own whims and amusements.

Well, I'm glad we changed our visit then, because (1) everyone deserves a 'do nothing day' and (2) it is raining there and I don't like to drive in unfamiliar places in the rain. I do hope the date in June works out. Enjoy the day!

I'm glad you rescheduled your trip, as well, but not because we would have minded driving over to see you -- we're looking forward to that! But the weather could have been an issue, and there's no sense in taking any chances.

Another advantage to putting the trip off until June is that you'll get to view the west Texas scenery as it's scarcely seen: it's all green!

Sounds like a perfect day.

Can I come?

Or will you at least eat a cupcake and have a refill of your frothy coffee for me?

I'll trade you. Flying home from Pittsburgh via Dallas and it is raining here and it sounds like it is/was in Midland. What are the chances it is raining in Dallas. Can you say flight delays???

That's what you guys get for having real jobs.

Beth, we'll hoist our cups made of 40% recycled post-consumer paper product complete with protective corrugated cardboard sleeves in your honor, and think of you, Lyle, serving your country bravely by ensuring that Big Oil has the software it needs to do whatever it's doing nowadays. At least you're on your way home, instead of going the other direction.

Oops, I was just going to call when I read this.

We're going to see Shrek too. Didn't know it was out yet. Been looking forward to it. Have a grand relaxing time and stay dry.

Carbohydrate and Caffeine---an unbeatable combination!

Hey! why does Midland keep getting all our rain? We've only had 21 inches this year. I'm gonna have to water the oleanders.

Hope your weekend is equally subject to your own whims and amusements.

It won't be, but reading about your 'plans' is almost as good. Enjoy it!
