A Brief Note to TV re: Dog Fighting

While I'm appreciative of the spotlight now being focused on the reprehensible practice of dogfighting (I won't dignify it with the term "sport"), thanks to the Michael Vick connection, trust me when I tell you that there's not a single dog lover in the country who wants to see one more second of TV footage of fighting or injured dogs.

Please stop it, now. We don't need to "get the picture"; we've had it all along.

There's a certain irony that two decades of hip-hop gangsta lifestyle, complete with mistreatment of women and retaliatory slayings by celebrities and their posses really only made a minor dent in either the public's sensibilities or the CD sales, but finding out about dog fighting's association with the culture may be the final tipping point for many of the people and corporations who have simply looked the other way because they didn't want to know, or didn't want to affect their own profits.

Good point, John. Nike's keeping mum thus far about the future of it's endorsement deal with Vick (I understand he gets about $7mil per year for plugging products, but not all from Nike). But I just see no way they'll keep him on the payroll following the indictment.
