My prediction: Rasmussen will NOT win the TDF

Remember my ironclad prediction of just a few hours ago: Michael Rasmussen will win the Tour de France?

Well, as they say, not so fast.

Un-freakin-believable.

Must. Remember. Not. A. Hero...

Seriously, I guess I'm wondering what the big deal is? Is "training in Mexico" a euphemism for "injecting myself with speedballs" or something?

I'm not condoning lying, but I'm struggling to understand the context.

Eric, the TDF left me so high this morning ..... then so low this afternoon. Stage 16 had such an awesome finish, with the 'Great Dane' battling one attack after another from Team Discovery, then launching into his own surge in the last kilometer ..... AWESOME!

Then, this afternoon, the news you cited ..... coming so soon after another day with a great high and a great low ..... both coming from Vinokourov.

And even though I have loved watching Contador (I guess he'll wear both the yellow and white jerseys, bow), I don't know if I really care to watch any more TDF. :-(

Bret, I can only speculate that this was deemed to be a serious violation of team rules, and given the heightened sensitivity to anything that even looks like doping-related activity, the team employed a rather draconian response.

Regardless, it's akin to refusing to play your starting quarterback in the Super Bowl because he missed curfew the previous night. What we don't know is whether he missed it because he left his watch in his hotel room, or because he was robbing a bank.

now .... not bow ..... sorry

Plus, training in Mexico?! Yeah, right. ;-)

Baseball's already shot, now cycling.

I can't wait 'til volleyball becomes the hip sport to follow!

Jim, there's always soccer! :-)

Jeff, I hear you, and feel your pain.

I don't think Contador would have chosen this way to acquire the yellow jersey.

Dont forget Cadel who has been busting a gut the whole tour...... at least he looks like he is riding.

Yeah, I certainly didn't mean to overlook Evans. He's probably a lock for a podium position, and assuming Rasmussen is really out, the top three spaces are up for grabs once more.

The reason for knowing where Rassmusen was training is important is that he is required to make himself available for random testing for doping or use of other enhancement drugs.

The mere fact that he lied implies that he has something to hide and the team management did the right thing by withdrawing him.

Don't forget that the sponsors have an interest in this race as well as the rider. Without them, there would be no tour.

Well, you were half-right at least. Juice-guy Rasmussen probably would've won if they hadn't booted him.
