Back in College Station

We're back in east Texas, getting the Nephew delivered to freshman orientation, dorm check-in, and all that good stuff. And, man, is it hot and humid down here! The heat index is over 100 (at 6:30 in the pm).

The good news is that MLB and I are both hooked up to the web wirelessly, thanks to the AirPort Express I brought with me following last month's fiasco. Since this is not a vacation for either of us, this will help us get some work done while the Nephew and his mom are getting indoctrina...um...oriented.

I'll try to find time to post a few more things than I did last trip.

Yay for college starting! I always loved getting moved in and settled - but then, I loved school. Hopefully the nephew will enjoy the experience as well.

If it makes you feel any better, we're still sweltering up here, as well. And the humidity. Oh let's not talk about that...bleh. You just go through the day feeling like you didn't actually dry off after the shower. :p

He's pretty excited about school -- at this point. I hope that will continue to be the case once he actually gets into it. The collision of reality and expectations is sometimes a jarring wake-up call.

Hmmm,

Interesting choice of words for your location. I never thought of my 4 years there as located in east Texas...that was where my grandmother lived...in Dallas. But then it is not really south Texas either. Maybe "central Texas"?? I guess the main thing is that its College Station. And I do remember the heat.

Mark, CS is definitely in the eastern 1/3 of the state, and it *is* east of Dallas, so I have to stand by my geographic nomenclature. And, believe me, it *feels* like east Texas this week!
