Introducing: Bandit

Meet Abbye's new cousin, Bandit:

Photo of puppy

Bandit's a "dachshuahua" (you can figure that out, can't you?) and he's a few months old now, in that puppy stage where he's either going a hundred miles an hour or is completely unconscious. He belongs to (or, to be more accurate, owns; you can probably figure that out, too) my brother and his wife, who lost their last little dog earlier this summer to a rattlesnake bite. That dog was quite a personality, but Bandit is going to give him a run for his money in that department.

Abbye's not terribly impressed, by the way. Bandit enjoys carrying out sneak attacks (having not yet figured out that any attack on a blind dog falls into that category), and Abbye's reflexes aren't quite fast enough for effective paw-swipe retaliation. But they still get along pretty well.

What an adorable little puppy. Can I smoosh him? Please? He looks like he needs smooshing.

Not that Abbye isn't still fabulous. But oh, what a cutie!

Puppies have a built-in advantage in that regard. Even Abbye understands that.

Hooray, puppies! ..er puppy!!

Brian, the way he moves around, you'd swear there was more than one of him, sometimes.

He's really, really, really cute!

I know Peanut can't be replaced but what a darling "follow-on." It's great to get to see a picture of my new little "great-nephew!"

Still hoping to get a copy of the picture of your mom and Peanut that you had on your site.

By the way, last week my lawn maintenance person asked if I would consider taking a baby daschuahua. After seeing this picture, it really makes me wish I were ready to be owned by another 4-legged child.

Margaret, I was hoping you'd stop by and see Bandit's photo; I actually had you in mind - among a few others - when I posted it. Figured you'd enjoy seeing him.

It's really hard to know when (or if) one should get another dog after losing a long-time and much loved companion. I'm sure that when the time is right, you'll know it without a doubt.

If I can find that photo of Peanut, I'll email it to you.

Dude, that's a miniature Pinscher.

Dude, we know the parents.

(In your defense, if I'd provided a photo of him standing, you'd be able to see that he's clearly not a Min Pin.)

Bright eyes and floppy ears - he's a winner! :)

That's exactly what my wife said about me when we first met!
