The Reason for the Season
If this post looks familiar, then I thank you for your perseverance in visiting the Gazette at least every 12 months. It's become a tradition here to post the lyrics to what I consider to be the best contemporary Christmas song, one that captures the wonder and reverence I feel when I contemplate that God would come to earth in the form of a baby in order to provide a free gift of salvation for any who want it. May you and yours have a blessed Christmas in every sense of the Word.
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Would some day walk on water?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy
Has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered,
Will soon deliver you.
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Would give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy
Has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby,
You've kissed the face of God.
Oh Mary, did you know...?
The blind will see,
The deaf will hear,
And the dead will live again.
The lame will leap,
The dumb will speak
The praises of the Lamb...
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy
Is Heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding
Is the great
I AM!

A dear friend sang this song last night, just her voice and piano. Beautiful doesn't do it justice.
