Embarrassed by the Cowboys

The 2nd best team in the NFL* just stunk up the joint, and I can't believe I keep falling for it.

*Turns out they're probably not even the second best team in their conference, and possibly not the second best team in their division.

I'll be back to watch the circus again next fall. I suspected this would be the result, based on the last three weeks of the regular season.

Still hurts, though. They've gotten better, but they don't exhibit the discipline they need to go all the way.

Say what you will about Belichick, it's hard to argue with his philosophy that you play in December like you want to play in January. The Cowboys weren't in the game mentally or physically and I think they checked out once they clinched home field advantage.

I only got to watch part of the first quarter before we had to leave to meet some friends for dinner. The whole time we were sitting at Abuelo's, I felt like I might be missing out on a really good game (especially since I'd just installed the 5.1 surround the day before).

Sounds like our dinner with friends was the better bargain.

The second quarter was a capsule of the entire game. Dallas put together a 20 play, 90 yard drive to score the go-ahead TD with less than 50 seconds remaining in the half. NY scored the tying TD with 7 seconds left. Dallas couldn't make the big play on offense, or stop NY's offense when it counted.

And we won't even get into the stupid penalties committed by Dallas...

When Arron Ross went out at cornerback for the Giants, who were already minus two other CBs, and the Cowboys didn't test the secondary deep until the end of the game, when they were in five-deep coverage with McQuarters, that was just a head-scratching decision. Romo was getting more pressure at the line, but they never tried to stretch the defense until the Giants knew it was coming.

On the other hand, thanks to T.O. breaking down and crying during the post-game interview, he's now been established as the favorite over Hillary Clinton to win Tuesday's Michigan Democratic primary.

Yeah, maybe Jason Garrett doesn't want a head coaching job after all. I'd sure think twice about hiring him after yesterday.

And I still think TO's more sincere than She Who Will Not Be Named Herein.

At least now I can root for the NFC to win it all...go Brett or Eli...can't have the Patriots go undefeated and don't want the Chargers...

We were at Wall Street B&G when the Cowboys bit the big one.

Service sucked after that. And it cleared out quick! I think everyone went home to sulk.

Food was good, though.

Lyle, I figured you'd be pulling for the AFC, being an old Broncos fan and all. ;-)

Janie, I didn't even know that Wall Street was open on Sunday evenings. We love their Sunday brunch, but I figured they closed after that was over.

On behalf of Steeler fans everywhere, I would like to extend our condolences to the Cowboy faithful ..... we feel your pain!

RE: Wall St. being open on Sunday...I was shocked, myself. Well, shocked about Dallas, too.

But the food was good. (just to reiterate!)

Jeff, you're fairly oozing with sincerity. ;-)

But the food was good.

It's nice to know that there's something in life we can count on!

I was in Boerne watching the game with an old and dear friend, a die hard Cowboys fan. At key moments during this game, I kept repeating the amazing statistic....."haven't won a playoff game since 1996". The truth seemed to anger him.......

die-hard Bronco fan and usually pull for the AFC (unless it is the raiders) - but have you seen the way Rivers has acted the last few games? Low class...And did you call me "old"? :>)
