And speaking of license plates...
...it's nice to see that the Big Bend design alternative for the new Texas plates is kicking the tags of the other designs.
You can cast your vote here. Voting ends on Monday, the 11th.

Along with the change in graphics, the new Texas license plates will carry seven digits instead of the current six, beginning in 2009. This change is primarily due to the intense lobbying carried out by those who recognize the importance of being able to vie for a plate reading "FIREANT".
the only problem with the division of "FIREANT" into 7 characters would be that it would read "FIR @ EANT" instead of "FIRE @ ANT", and, cmon eric, that's just plain confusing.
Posted by: kyle at February 9, 2008 10:47 AMJeff, the saving grace is that you CAN reserve "DAMYANK." ;-)
it would read "FIR @ EANT" instead of "FIRE @ ANT"
Well, unlike some people who are seemingly content to remain uninformed about matters of significance, I've actually researched this issue and found that personalized plates don't have to be divided "3 & 4." Confusion is thereby eliminated. (Well, except for that around why anyone would want that on their license plate to begin with.)

Say, did I ever tell you the story about the boy and the magnifying glass...oh, never mind. ;-)
Posted by: Eric at February 9, 2008 02:37 PMI was going put a FIREANT plate on my vehicle but then I didn't even get my coaster so ...

OK, I'm putting them out right now (well, as soon as I finish typing this) and will bring them to church en la manaņa.
Posted by: Eric at February 9, 2008 07:12 PMHoly cow! What a great plate! I wish we could get something like that.

Seven instead of six, eh? ..... So, I could say "YANKEES" instead of "YANKEE," huh? ..... Naaawww, the rest of the family would never go for it ..... dog-gone southerners!
