Invaded AND Sick
There's only one thing worse than having strangers tromp through your house, and that's being sick while they're doing it.
Yesterday was not a good day; fortunately, we had only one showing to contend with, and I managed to keep up a somewhat normal facade. That's a good thing, because while I'm not an expert in this area, I suspect that it's a bit of a turnoff to buyers if the owner throws up on them during the tour.
Remind me sometime to share the story about the meeting I had with a vendor who flew in from Dallas and was unfortunate enough to be in the way when a young child in the adjacent seat lost its figurative cookies.
Ugh, I'm sorry. It's awful enough being sick, but letting people in your home at the same time sounds positively awful. Get better already!
Posted by: gwynne at February 11, 2008 12:40 PMEW!!! Well, not even the healthiest among us is immune to the bugs that are going around just now, are they? I'm so sorry you're having to show the house! Maybe no one will look until you're better, huh?
I hope you are feeling better soon!

Posted by: Jim at February 11, 2008 04:49 PMSome advice: If you have the bug I got.
I went down Monday evening and thought I was going to die. I have not been that ill in years! Felt better Tue. evening, taught my class, Wed crashed, felt better Thur - Sat night then crashed again. Went to the office today and about noon - crash. I'm now dealing with a lot of pain in all my joints. almost unbearable.
So, I recommend that you take it easy and not rush it. Hope you feel better soon and don't have a relapse.
Posted by: Gene at February 11, 2008 05:26 PMThanks, guys. I'm feeling much better, although not good enough to actually look forward to having those folks walk through the house. Well, that may never happen.
Gene, I'm pretty sure I don't have what you've got. At least I hope not...it sounds terrible! I hope you get better, soon...
Posted by: Eric at February 11, 2008 06:02 PMI feel for you guys on both counts. I'm still hacking from last week's bout of flu, and the memory (and ignominy) of having people tromp through my house making disparaging comments ("Feh. No gold fixtures in the bathroom.") is still fresh after three years.
Posted by: Foo at February 13, 2008 07:04 AMThere's just no pleasing some people. We actually put in gold fixtures and what did we get? "What, no diamond pavé?!"

Erk! Feel better! (And I'm pretty sure that ralphing on potential home buyers is a bad idea, so good call!)
