We hiked around Canyon Lake, in the Texas Hill Country, on the Fourth of July (2009). It was terribly hot, with the heat index over 100 degrees. This image evokes the desolation of a land dying from drought. Can you spot the lone roosting bird? Photo taken at Canyon Lake, Texas.
